Senior Producer, WBEZ 91.5
As WBEZ Senior Producer, Steve works on Worldview with Jerome McDonnell, WBEZ’s weekday global news/affairs program and Afternoon Shift with Niala Boodhoo, WBEZ’s interactive, Chicago-oriented drive-time program. For Worldview, he creates in-depth series, features, and outreach events that connect listeners to global communities in Chicago and around the world. Afternoon Shift, “features in-depth interviews and conversations with newsmakers, artists, writers, innovators and interesting characters.” Steve joined WBEZ in 1998.
Prior to joining WBEZ, Steve worked as Morning Show Producer for WMBI 90.1 FM in Chicago.
For his work on the radio program Sandy Rios Live on WYLL 106.7 FM, Steve shared a Gabriel Award, “honoring works of excellence in broadcasting that serve audiences through the positive, creative treatment of concerns to humankind.” He also served as WYLL’s Program Manager. For his work on Afternoon Shift, Steve produced a program that won the 2014 Indiana Associated Press award for “Best Public Affairs Program.”
Steve sits on the Boards of WorldChicago, Chicago Cultural Alliance, and the International Network of Urban Agriculture. He also serves on the Community Board of Metropolitan Family Services Evanston/Skokie.
Steve is a University of Notre Dame graduate and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University.Back to Board of Directors
